This is the first course in a three-part elder training program. The three courses are: ET 911 The Calling of an Elder, ET 912 An Elder Is a Shepherd, and ET 913 An Elder Is a Disciplemaker.

This course is intended to be part of the preparation leading up to the ordination of a man to the office of elder in the Church of a Lutheran Brethren congregation. The course covers the Biblical and theological knowledge, the ministry skills and the character traits of an effective elder.
