This course is a 5-module study of a biblical understanding and contextually relevant way of doing evangelization, with an emphasis on personal witness and the role of the local church in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus in word and deed, both locally and globally.

Instructor: Dr. Gaylan Mathiesen

What You Will Learn

  • To articulate a comprehensive and biblical definition of evangelization, and better understand your role in God’s mission.
  • To better distinguish between Law and Gospel, and learn principles for communicating these truths to our neighbors near and far.
  • To explain the human and spiritual factors and dynamics that are at work in the evangelism process as someone becomes a disciple of Christ.
  • To describe the major movements of the global growth of the Church and to create safe spaces for non-Christians to explore the faith and to evaluate your witness.
  • To better understand why some people do not believe and to understand, empathize with, and address the non-believer’s presuppositions, breaking down barriers to the Gospel; and to explain how the previously dominant centers of Christianity are not dying out, but are shifting to other parts of the world, and what some of the possible implications are for the churches of the west.

Course Objective

To enhance your knowledge and skills for sharing the gospel in a way that is natural, biblical, and more effective in helping others become disciples of Jesus Christ;
